What is the origin of holiday cards?

Answered By Crissy Yarnell, Editor

Christmas cards originated in London in the year 1843. Prior to the cards, people exchange their greetings before through handwritten holiday greetings. The post mail offices find the necessity of doing commercial cards that can just be bought in any stores so holiday cards are born. The very first Christmas card made in London was designed by John Calcott Horsley.
