What are the symbols of Christmas?

Answered By Crissy Yarnell, Editor

The symbols and the rites of celebrating Christmas are often associated with paganism. On the other hand, these already become part of the tradition:

Star

- This is referred to the guiding star that manifests the birth of Christ as stated in the Biblical Account. This is also a representation of Jesus as the bright and morning star.

Evergreen

- This is used to symbolize the invitation for speedy return of light and warmth after the spring season of Christmas.

Gift-giving

- This symbolizes a way for the people to help and share as one community.

There are many other symbols that represent Christmas such as the Christmas tree, wreath, Christmas lights, Christmas stocking and bells. Each of the symbols signifies meanings.
