Why is eggnog a traditional Christmas drink?

Answered By Crissy Yarnell, Editor

Eggnog drinking was an influence of Europe to America. However, some do not believe on it. They believe that eggnog is a type of milk drink mixed with wine and it was discovered long ago by the American. America has its own version of eggnog, they replaced the original recipe with rum. The rum was called grog so the name eggnog was derived from it. Egg and grog which was later turned to egg'n'grog and turned to eggnog.

It is not only served during Christmas but in special holidays as well. But because the rum grog is mostly available during Christmas, eggnog is served usually during Christmas time.
