Is there really a Santa Claus?

Answered By Crissy Yarnell, Editor

There is Santa Claus. The name came from Dutch name called Sinter Klass. It is the pronunciation of St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas was a Christian priest that became a bishop soon after. He was a rich person and travels the whole country to help the misfortunate people by giving away money, gifts and special presents. He hid himself while giving away gifts by going to the houses of these children while they are asleep.

The famous story of St. Nicolas was with a poor man without money and he gave his three daughters with gold on their socks during their wedding day. Since then children hung up stockings in their window hoping for St. Nicholas to give them gifts.

Most of the people believe that St. Nicholas died and went back to heaven to help poor people. People in England stopped worshipping St. Nicholas as a saint but are treated as a gift giving Father during Christmas time.
